Cape's Core Features

Privacy & security advantages you won’t find anywhere else. Stay anonymous. Stay untraceable. Stay protected.

Minimal Data Collection

Most carriers start tracking you from the moment you’re connected: who you talk to, what you browse, where you go, often down to the minute. That information is packaged into detailed profiles, sold to advertisers and data brokers, and left vulnerable to breaches that can expose you to stalking, fraud, or identity theft.

Cape is different—we can’t misuse what we don’t have.

We collect the minimum amount of information necessary to provide our service. No names, no Social Security numbers, no addresses.

Any information that we do collect is stored for the minimum amount of time possible.

And, we never sell your data. Period.

Secondary Numbers

Your phone number is a target for data brokers and scammers. Retailers, websites, apps—everyone is routinely asking you to share your number with them, which exposes you to a variety of risks. Many turn to VoIP numbers to use as secondary lines, which can be helpful, but cost extra, don’t work with 2FA, and aren’t encrypted.

Cape provides subscribers with 2 free additional encrypted lines.

Within your Cape app, you can get up to 2 free additional SMS/MMS lines to use for sign-ups, shopping, and 2FA that are middle-to-end encrypted for more security.

Secondary numbers are text only. Voice coming soon.

Identifier Rotation

Every SIM card has a unique identifier called an IMSI, which your device uses to register with cellular networks. Most carriers assign a fixed IMSI that stays the same for the life of your account, making it easy for observers—including rogue cell towers, advertisers, and surveillance firms—to identify and track your device over time.

Cape breaks that pattern.

Cape automatically rotates your IMSI every 24 hours, making you look like a different subscriber every day.

This makes it far more difficult for anyone to follow your movements or associate your presence with a single identifier.

Disappearing Call Logs

Your call and text records reveal a lot about you. Anyone with access to them could identify your closest relationships, your home address and workplace, and reconstruct your daily routine. Most carrier privacy policies state that they’ll retain your data for “as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes of this privacy policy”. The reason? So they can monetize it.

Cape is built to forget.

We run our own mobile core, which means that unlike other MVNO, we produce our own call records.

This means we have control over what data fields to pass to our partner MNOs, and we can delete your records in days instead of years.

Cape deletes call logs after just 1 day.

Last-Mile Encryption

SMS are not end-to-end encrypted. Even so, many of us still use it to receive One-Time Passwords (OTPs) for our most sensitive accounts–banks, social media, and more, leaving them vulnerable to threats like SIM swaps, signaling attacks, and more.

Cape allows subscribers to encrypt and route all SMS/MMS messages through the Cape app.

When enabled, SMS/MMS messages sent to Cape subscribers will be middle-to-end encrypted and decrypted securely within the Cape app.

This protects any messages that may be intercepted via a compromised cellular base station from being read.

This feature is only available on iPhone. Android coming soon.

Encrypted Voicemail

Voicemails can reveal more than you think. From personal messages to authentication codes, voicemails can contain sensitive information. Yet, most voicemail systems are outdated and unencrypted. Some have even exposed user data through open servers or misconfigurations.

Cape keeps your voicemails truly private.

Each voicemail is encrypted on arrival and can only be decrypted by the private key stored on your device.

Even if someone gains access to Cape’s backend systems, your messages can’t be listened to.

Private Payment

Most carriers collect your payment data and directly tie it to your personal identity. They require full billing details, run credit checks using your Social Security number, and then store your credit card on file in insecure systems.

Cape keeps payment information separate.

When you pay for your Cape plan, we don’t ask for your name or address—just your card number and ZIP code.

Your card information is tokenized, meaning it’s converted into a secure, non-sensitive code that Stripe processes directly.

Cape never stores your credit card information. To comply with tax laws, we retain your ZIP code for up to three years.

SIM Swap Protection

SIM swaps happen when an attacker convinces your carrier to transfer your number to their device. From there, they can receive your texts and calls, trigger password resets, and gain access to your accounts—banking, crypto, social media, chat apps, or anything they can exploit for financial gain. Once a SIM swap starts, it’s nearly impossible to stop.

Cape removes humans from the loop.

During signup, you’ll receive a 24-word phrase that generates a private key tied to your number.

This phrase is the only way to move your number to a new device or carrier.

Cape never sees it, never stores it, and no one, not even Cape, can move your number without it.

Network Lock

Attackers exploit SS7 protocols and legacy telco infrastructure to trick your phone into routing your location, calls, or texts to a compromised network that they control. This gives them the ability to track you or intercept your communications.

Cape is redesigning cellular infrastructure from the ground up.

Our enhanced signaling protection uses a proprietary proxy to verify that your device’s physical location matches the network it’s trying to attach to.

If anything looks suspicious—like a mismatched location—we block the connection.

Secure Global Roaming

Roaming on foreign networks introduces more vulnerabilities. Cellular networks were built for interoperability, not privacy. As your phone hops between countries, it connects to local telecom providers so you can keep calling, texting, and using data. But not all networks are secure, and not all governments treat privacy the same. Many have been infiltrated by hackers. And almost all participate in a system that was never designed to protect you.

Cape routes your traffic through our US-based mobile core.

Our Secure Global Roaming gives you the convenience of international data roaming without exposing your identity or communications.

Because Cape owns our own cloud-based mobile core, we can route all of your traffic—even while you roam abroad—routes back through our core rather than those of foreign telcos.
