Cape Supports Privacy Guides

Most people who care about privacy didn't start out as experts. They started by reading something like a comparison of email providers, a breakdown of why a certain messaging app leaks metadata, or an explainer on what a threat model even is. For a huge number of people in this community, that starting point was .

Privacy Guides is an independent, non-profit project that publishes free, community-vetted recommendations on privacy tools and practices: VPNs, browsers, operating systems, email providers, and more. It's run by volunteers and a small staff, funded by donations, and carries no ads and no affiliate deals with the tools it recommends. What you get instead is something increasingly rare online: advice that exists only to be useful, not to be monetized.

We think that model matters. A lot of "privacy advice" on the internet is really just marketing wearing a lab coat. Privacy Guides has built its reputation by refusing to play that game, even when it would be easier not to.

To help keep an editorially independent resource independent, we’re donating to Privacy Guides. Cape exists because we believe people deserve honest options for staying private, and that belief only holds up if there are honest places to learn about those options in the first place.

If you want to hear more about how we think about privacy and connectivity, our Head of Consumer Growth, Ruddy Wang, sat down with the Privacy Guides team for their podcast. You can .
